LOVE is proud to honor The Nicole Schiffman Foundation at the Images of LOVE 2010 gala and photo auction. Representing the foundation are the founders, Nicole’s mother, father and sister, Cheryl, Ron and Lindsey Schiffman. A special exhibit will be created by LOVE youth in Nicole’s honor.

“The The Nicole Schiffman Foundation was created after the untimely death of a beautiful young woman at the age of nineteen. While visiting her friend in Arizona to help celebrate her 20th birthday Nicole’s life came to a tragic end due to the irrational thoughts and conflicted emotions of a misguided young man, who had easy access to guns and no one to turn to for help. As Nicole’s family we couldn’t stand back and let this pass as a senseless crime so we created the foundation to honor her legacy. Nicole was a person who made sure to listen and understand what others were going through and who made each person feel special always recognizing their own unique qualities. It is for this reason that we decided to partner with the organization LOVE, who also has the mission to reach out to troubled youth in today's violent society and give them the self worth that they need through programs of the arts.”
-Cheryl Schiffman, co-founder of The Nicole Schiffman Foundation and Nicole's mother.

Since partnering with LOVE in 2008, The Nicole Schiffman Foundation has funded the launch of our Summer Video Workshop and our Video Media Center. The NSF also provides funding for our new program space; the Nicole Schiffman center for LOVE youth which is the heart of our programs; it is the safe space LOVE youth congregate to attend workshops and develop their skills to carry out LOVE’s mission.

Voices of our Time
Feb 27th – March 9th 2007

Photo Exhibit and Sale
Felissimo Townhouse
10 West 56th St
New York, NY
Exhibition hours: Mon-Fri 5-7pm,
Sat. March 3rd 12-4pm

Photography will take on new meaning starting Tuesday, February 27, 2007 in Midtown Manhattan. Two charities have come together to achieve a rarity: spreading love and peace through photography. Photography will not only tell a story through each individual photograph, but it will collectively spread awareness and raise funds at the “Voices of our time,” photography exhibition, hosted by DESIGN 21: Social Design Network.

LOVE has partnered with Seeds of Peace and renowned photographer Jacques de Mélo to create a stunning exhibit of photographs.

In the LOVE portion of the exhibit, New York Photographer Mariette Papic lead our youth on an expedition of transformation. The photographs tell of the youths’ journey by subway to many diverse NYC neighborhoods.

Also featured is a selection of photographs from De Mélo’s “Profil” series that focuses on today’s immigrants. De Mélo took over 100 portraits of immigrants: Italian; Portuguese; Algerian; Moroccan; Polish; Turkish; Kurdish; Africans; Asians; people from around the world who settled in urban, industrial regions of France. All the photographs are hand printed in platinum and palladium.

Also look out for an article on the exhibit in the April issue of the art photography magazine, FOCUS magazine.

Tuesday, October 24, 2006
6 p.m. Cocktails & Silent Auction
7 p.m. Dinner & Presentations
Pier 60, Chelsea Piers in Manhattan

On this night, The Catalog for Giving will honor
ten extraordinary young people, or "Urban Heroes,"
from its member organizations who have overcome difficult life challenges to become role models for their communities.

The Catalog will also present its second
Award for Transforming Young Lives

For more than a decade, The Catalog has highlighted the impact of its member agencies by hosting an annual event to honor the young people that they serve. The Catalog's Urban Heroes Awards Benefit recognizes youth who best exemplify the work of these ten organizations. The Catalog takes great care in screening and selecting its member groups to ensure that its donors are supporting the very best non-profit youth development programs in New York City. From mentoring programs in the arts for homeless children, academic help for low-income students, to technology classes and self-advocacy training for foster care youth, The Catalog's member organizations provide the positive structure to change a young life forever.
